Krispy Kreme is giving away 100,000 free doughnuts - but you’ll have to be quick.

To celebrate National Doughnut Day on Friday, June 2, customers can visit any participating Krispy Kreme store across NSW, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia to claim their free Original Glazed doughnut.

According to last year’s event, almost 8,000 Aussies rushed to their local stores to claim a free doughnut between 4-5pm. This year, Krispy Kreme recommends fans to visit during quieter times before 11 am.

“National Doughnut Day is our most popular event of the year,” Aimee Cutajar, head of marketing at Krispy Kreme ANZ said.

“Our much loved Original Glazed Doughnuts are made fresh daily and all our retail staff are rolling up their sleeves in preparation for a busy day ahead.

“We love to share joy with our fans and thank them for their support. Please do drop by and celebrate with us.”

But for those who can’t make it into stores for a freebie, don’t fret just yet.

From now until July 10, if you spot the Hot Light being lit up across any participating Krispy Kreme Hot Light stores, you can redeem a free Original Glazed doughnut - no purchase necessary.

Little-known sign

Last year, Monique Riley, from Sydney, urged everyone to keep an eye out for when Krispy Kreme’s Hot Light is on.

When the Hot Light is on it means fresh Original Glazed doughnuts are being made and customers can score a free doughnut straight off the line every day with any purchase.

“When the Krispy Kreme light is lit up red, you get a free doughnut for each person in the car,” she said in her TikTok video.

Life hack

To prove her “life hack”, Monique returned to the store on another night to ask an employee, known only as Rachel, to explain how the free doughnut policy works.

“So after about 6pm, come into any drive-thru Krispy Kreme with a ‘hot light’ and you can get a free doughnut per customer in the car,” worker Rachel confirmed on camera.

Monique added: “See guys, it isn’t a lie - it’s a real life hack.”
