British music artist Stormzy and Adidas have opened Merky FC HQ, a new football centre in Croydon, South London.

The new facility comprises football pitches, as well as a recording studio, gaming hub and multi-purpose rooms. The venue will also stage events and host educational initiatives throughout the year.

Merky FC HQ marks the latest collaboration between Stormzy and Adidas, after the rapper and sportswear giant launched the Merky FC Careers programme in 2022, which provides work opportunities for Black Herritage Youth in the UK within the football industry.

Since its inception, more than 60 young people have secured positions across a number of brands.

“I’m gassed that we can finally open the doors to Merky FC HQ,” Stormzy said.

“Working with adidas, I’ve wanted to do this for a long, long time and now there’s a community space that everyone in the area will be able to use and benefit from.

“When I was growing up there was nothing like this around for young people, so it means a lot that we now have a facility like this in Croydon.”
