The Met Gala 2024 has come and gone, leaving behind plenty of memorable moments on the fashion and also beauty fronts.

In honor of the Costume Institute's “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition, this year's Met Gala dress code was “The Garden of Time,” inspired by J.G. Ballard's 1962 novel, which serves as the inspiration for celebs to embrace the floral themes.

The steps of the Met were lined with celebrities dressed in ornate botanical designs. All your faves, from rapper Cardi B to this year’s Met Gala co-chair Zendaya, did not shy away from taking the maximalism of their ‘fits. And while fashion takes the spotlight during Met, beauty should not be ignored. Below, Teen Vogue rounded up 20 of the evening's most striking beauty looks — from hair to makeup and nails.

1. Zendaya

Zendaya shut down the Met Gala 2024 carpet not once but twice. As a modern-day Hollywood icon, she knew social media would not be satisfied without extra servings. On the beauty front, Zendaya paired a skinny 1920s brow with a deep burgundy smokey eye and an oxblood shiny lip for her first look. It was a daring choice that she pulled off effortlessly.

Her second look for the carpet was almost a complete 180, featuring a nude lip, bleached brow, and icy shimmers of lime and lilac on the lid. Both of her dramatic makeup looks were created by long-time collaborator Raoul Alejandre, who, sadly, has not yet shared the exact products needed. However, Zendaya's hairstylist, Ursula Stephen, did share that she created contrast with a simple chignon inspired by the Calla lily flower using Living Proof products and Dyson hair tools. She even shared a Pinterest board to social media showing all her inspo.

2. Cardi B

Cardi B continued her streak of giving us memorable Met Gala moments. She looked like royalty with a regal body glow created using Vaseline's Radiant X Replenishing body oil and a Bridgerton-worthy beehive look created by Tokyo Stylez using Got2B hair products to keep every hair in place.

Her 3D lipstick nails with asymmetrical French tips were inspired by “a rose stem’s thorn,” her nail artist Cocoa Michelle wrote on Instagram. Cardi carried the bold pops of teal on her nail tips to her makeup using NYX Cosmetics Epic Wear pencil liner in ‘Intense Teal’ paired with a soft and smokey glam using their Ultimate Utopia shadow palette. For Cardi's glossy lined lip, she used NYX Cosmetics lip pencil in ‘Brown’ and Butter Gloss in ‘Peaches and Cream.’ If you'd like to recreate Cardi's 2024 look, her makeup artist, Erika La'Pearl, posted a tutorial on her Instagram.

3. Anok Yai

Jaws dropped when model of the moment Anok Yai showed up at the Met Gala 2024. She glistened wearing a feathered pixie cut and an icy makeup look by top Lancôme makeup artist Sheika Daley. Anok's look was all about dimension and catching the light of every camera flash. Her glowy base perfectly complimented her shimmery blue inner eye and iridescent cheek highlight. No detail was left untouched, as Anok even sparkled underneath her Swarovski gloves, wearing cat-eye baby blue nails with a silver charm, according to her nail artist Dawn Sterling’s Instagram stories.

4. Taylor Russell

Taylor Russell is always one to watch on every carpet, so the Met Gala was no exception. She matched the oak and mahogany tones of her Loewe corset in her makeup, wearing warm, earthy tones that mimicked nature. She kept things minimal but striking with a chocolate graphic eyeliner that elongated her inner and outer corners. We can't gloss over her mini fringe, which was bang-on trend for the evening.

5. Lil Nas X

Lil Nas X's custom Met Gala manicure was nothing short of opulent. In what his nail artist Temeka Jackson called a “glam slam,” he wore OPI's gel shade in ‘Go Big or Go Chrome.’ His transparent nails were adorned with over 50,000 Swarovski crystals to channel the saying, “When the garden flows, it produces diamonds," wrote his nail stylist on Instagram.

6. Emma Chamberlain

Emma Chamberlain's smokey and sensual eye look gave all the drama you could ask for. Her deep coffee look is inspired by her lace dress, “wrapped in thorns, reminiscent of the beautiful dead of winter where nature is calm and hauntingly magnificent,” said her makeup artist, Kelsey Deenihan. Emma wore a full face of Lancôme, using their Hypnose 5-color eyeshadow palette in “Beige Brûlé” and “Ardent Drama” (due for release this July) for intense smokiness. She created her ‘90s-esque ombre lip using Lancôme’s Le Lip Liner Pencil in “283 Amandelle” and L’Absolue Rogue Drama Matte lipstick in “510 Divine Idylle.”

7. FKA Twigs

Unreal is the adjective that comes to mind for FKA Twigs' 2024 Met Gala look. She was quite literally bedazzled from head to toe. Draped in jewels, she became one with her custom Stella McCartney dress by embellishing her face with crystals. There was something extraterrestrial and otherworldly about her look. We’re not sure if it was her dripping in bling or her half-buzzcut, half-braided hairstyle that was nothing short of sculptural.

8. Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried's look was the image of retro glamour with a modern twist. Using Kristin Ess's styling products, her hair was slicked back with a silver finger curl hair piece placed on top to match her Prada gown. “The overall shape of the dress was reminiscent of a bygone era; the look being very pale, almost matte skin with blush very high on the cheeks,” said her makeup artist, Genevieve Herr. The actress wore a full face of Lancôme, using Le Lip Liner in “265 Portelle” and L’Absolu Rouge Drama matte lipstick in “509 Rêve Toujours” for a pop of purple to match the flower appliqués of her dress.

9. Gigi Hadid

Supermodel Gigi Hadid shared some beauty prep pics to her Instagram wearing a gold facemask ahead of the 2024 Met Gala. It's no surprise that she looked radiant on the evening wearing a simple yet timeless old Hollywood look. Hairstylist Laura Polko used rollers to create Gigi’s voluminous curls and set them with Joico’s Power Whip foam and Flip Turn hairspray. Gigi used Maybelline's SuperStay Vinyl Ink for her Marilyn Monroe-esque red lip, mixing ‘Red-Hot’ and 'Wicked.'

10. Cynthia Evrio

Wicked star Cynthia Evrio had one of the boldest looks of the night with impossibly long and separated lashes that mimicked the spires of a flower. She wore Haus Labs makeup on the evening to achieve her theatrical cherry pink cheek highlight. Even her nails were show-stopping. She wore a stiletto style with an iridescent OPI French tip created by Rose Hackle.

11. Doja Cat

If there's one thing Doja Cat is going to do, it's give us some fantasy. Her makeup was created by the one and only Pat McGrath, who used the Mothership V: Bronze Seduction eyeshadow palette to paint “shimmering, enchanted tears of joy streaming down her cheeks,” McGrath described. Doja’s smoky cat eye is a mix of lots of black pencil and liquid liner and a generous coating of Pat McGrath FetishEYES mascara.

12. BLACKPINK's Jennie

BLACKPINK's Jennie was a vision in electric blue. She kept her makeup simple and chic to let her show-stopping dress take center stage. Her fluffy lash, black cat eye, and light shimmer on the center lid are a lesson in less is more. Jennie's hair was just as elegant as her makeup. Her curled chignon looked stunning from every angle.

13. Keke Palmer

Keke Palmer's Met Gala ponytail was a sculptural work of art. Hairstylist Tamika Gibson slicked back Keke's hair with The Ashely Marie Collection products and kept her pony secure with some Bold Hold Lace Gelly. She looked like the epitome of glitz and glamour with crystal embellishments on her temples and soft glam makeup. A moment of appreciation for her gilded stiletto nails that perfectly elevated her look, too.

14. Ugbad Abdi

Somali-American model Ugbad Abdi prepped for her Met Gala moment with some Dr. Barbara Sturm eye patches before she stunned with her bejeweled makeup look. She looked radiant, wearing some silver sparkly eyeliner. To finish off her look, she wore a custom embroidered head covering by Jennifer Behr.

15. Adwoa Aboah

Model Adwoa Aboah was glowing at the Met Gala, showing off her baby bump and a beautifully simple makeup look. For skin care prep, she wore a Mimi Luzon golden face mask. She went for a fresh-faced and barely-there base, adding a graphic and artistic red lip to match her two-piece. She finished off her elegant look with a slicked-back chignon bun. It was simplicity at its finest.

16. Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey looked like a fairytale fantasy at the 2024 Met Gala. To match her earthy dress, she kept her makeup muted and neutral, wearing a wispy lash and mauve lips lined with brown liner. She complimented her natural look with whimsical waist-length loose waves.

17. Venus Williams

Tennis legend Venus Williams brought some retro glamour to the Met Gala carpet. Her white liner waterline was a nostalgic throwback to the ‘60s, while her hair was also a nod to the era. “We went with a beautiful bouffant and added a French braid going around to represent a braided headband effect,” said hairstylist Nikki Nelms. “We added some of the mirrored embellishment from the dress to give a subtle kiss of sparkle,” she added. Before blowing out and straightening her hair, Venus used Maui Moisture’s Curl + Quench Coconut Oil Curl Smoothie and Frizz-free + Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Mist. She also used Maui Moisture’s Nourish & Moisture + Coconut Milk Weightless Oil Mist for shine and Lightweight Curls + Flaxseed Edge Control to slick down her hair.

18. Gwendoline Christie

You may recognize Gwendoline Christie from Game of Thrones, Wednesday, or her iconic appearance in Maison Margiela's viral runway show in Paris this year. Just like then, Pat McGrath is also the mind behind Christie's Met Gala 2024 makeup look. It was one of the spectacles of the evening. Christie wore Pat McGrath FetishEYES mascara and a powdery soft red lip that matched her rouge cheeks. Christie's hair was windswept, theatrical, and perfect for the occasion.

19. Ashley Graham

Ashley Graham's glow is what red carpet dreams are made of. On Instagram, makeup artist Ivan Núñez said Graham wanted “ethereal glowing skin with glossy lips to mimic her striking chainmail dress.” She achieved her dewy skin and natural radiance using a full face of Revlon. PhotoReady Rose Glow Face Mist and SkinLights Prismatic Bronzer in “Sunlit” are key to achieving Graham’s gorgeous luminance.

20. Sydney Sweeney

Sydney Sweeney decided to switch up her look for the Met Gala. She swapped her usual blonde hair for a short and wavy black bob with a fringe. Sweeney used LANEIGE’s Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask and Lip Sleeping Mask in “Berry” for beauty prep. To contrast her darker hair, makeup artist Melissa Hernandez created a look “that felt edgy yet ethereal and feminine,” she said, using Armani Beauty’s Luminous Silk Cheek tint in shade 53 and Luminous Silk Glow Blush in shade 51 for Sweeney’s rosy cheeks and Fluid Sheer Glow Enhancer in shade 2 for her shimmery skin.
