Ray Chan, a long-time production designer associated with Marvel Studios, died at the age of 56 near his residence in Wales. The studio confirmed the news in a statement on Friday, April 26. Hugh Jackman shared a heartfelt post on Instagram and condoled the death of the art director.

Ray Chan is recognised for his significant contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He has worked on major films such as ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, ‘Avengers: Endgame’, and the upcoming MCU movie, ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’. His sudden death ahead of the film's release, has left many disheartened including Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds.

“I am devastated to hear of the tragic news about Ray Chan. There was not a day shooting when I didn’t marvel at what he created. He created magic. There was this look in his eyes. The look of a man who loved his craft. I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the best in the business (sic)” Hugh Jackman wrote.

Hugh further wrote how Ray was always at the very top and felt thankful for having spent time with him two weeks ago. “Time for him to finish the job he loved so much. He told a great story. And man – I am so honoured to have played a role. My heart goes out to Ray’s family and friends. Rest well Ray Chan. Rest well (sic),” he added.

Ryan Reynolds also shared a long note on his Instagram story and mourned the death of the legendary art director. Heartbroken by the news, the ‘Deadpool’ actor wrote, “Words are pretty inadequate in comparison to this loss (sic).”

“I don’t pretend to know every chapter of Ray’s heart, but I know it’s unusual to encounter someone with that level of artistry, who simultaneously moved through the world with such an indelible humanity (sic),” he continued.
