Here is our official ranking of all the musician looks at the 2024 Met Gala.

The first Monday in May means it’s one of the biggest fashion days of the year, the Met Gala. Some of the biggest stars walked the red — or white, rather — carpet on Monday night (May 6), showing off some of the most creative looks to capture the evening’s theme.
This year’s theme, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, features 250 items from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection, according to an Instagram post announcing the theme back in November. “From a 17th century English Elizabethan-era bodice and Christian Dior’s famous Junon and Venus ballgowns, to 21st century acquisitions by designers including Phillip Lim, Stella McCartney, and Conner Ives, the core exhibit will span 400 years of history,” the caption reads. Additionally, the event’s dress code was “The Garden of Time,” inspired by a 1962 J.G. Ballard short story of the same name.
Bad Bunny and Jennifer Lopez served as co-chairs of the 2024 Met Gala on Monday (May 6) as did Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth and, as usual, Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
Many artists embodied the dress code by utilizing texture, color and, of course, floral accents, but others completely missed the mark. See below for our full ranking of the 2024 Met Gala looks worn by musicians specifically, judged primarily on how well they followed this year’s dress code.
While Jack Harlow’s tailored grey suit fits him like a glove, an outfit like this can be worn to any award show and doesn’t really fit the theme.
25. Rita Ora Image Credit: Jamie McCarthy/Getty ImagesWhile Rita Ora looks like a water nymph from the forest, fitting perfectly within the theme, the ill-fitting bodysuit underneath the colorful strings makes the outfit look sloppy instead of whimsical.
Lizzo’s corseted, custom-made gown feels unfinished, as the blooming hemline and headpiece are both uneven.

Red is definitely Shakira’s color, and the gown fits her perfectly. She simply got points off for missing the theme.
21. Sabrina Carpenter Image Credit: Dia Dipasupil/Getty ImagesFans expected more from Sabrina Carpenter, who opted for a black bodycon gown with a flowing blue train. Her afterparty look — a minidress adored with flowers — would have been better suited for the Met Gala red carpet.
While Changbin, Lee Know, I.N, Hyunjin, Seungmin, Felix, Han and Bang Chan of Stray Kids look polished and cohesive in anything they wear, Tommy Hilfiger’s blue, white and red color scheme doesn’t scream “Garden of Time.”
19. Jennifer Lopez Image Credit: Gilbert FloresAs co-chair, Jennifer Lopez could have done more with her look, but she played it safe with a bedazzled gown. No matter what she wears, though, she looks stunning.
Similar to JLo, Camila Cabello opted for a metallic gown. It would have been great to see her be more adventurous, especially with her experimental album era on the way.

Kelsea Ballerini was “Garden of Time” personified, with her nude mesh gown adorned with pink and orange flowers.

Lea Michele was glowing in pregnancy at the Met Gala, rocking a turquoise gown with a tulle cape and a floral strap.

Dove Cameron and Damiano David were pure romance at the Met Gala, with Damiano’s lace suit perfectly complementing Dove’s deconstructed floral gown.

Ariana Grande was the ultimate “Mother of Pearl” with her sleek white gown and special FX makeup.

While the theme did not seem to make it onto Lil Nas X’s radar, the manicure was a standout moment alongside his sleek, oversized cream suit.

Teyana Taylor was the epitome of a rose with her form-fitting corseted gown, adorned with red flowers and complete with a velvet train.

Lana Del Rey was the embodiment of a woodland goddess at the Met Gala. Only she could make a branch headpiece look this good.

As usual, Zendaya wins the Met Gala. The singer worked with Law Roach to create a woodland fantasy combining Earth and Water through texture and color. She completed the look with a goth-inspired glam, adding to the dark fantasy.
