When is the next full moon in 2023?

Full moon

This Saturday, October 28, the full moon known as Hunter's Moon will be seen.

NASA explains that this full moon occurs after the Harvest Moon and, according to the Farmer's Almanac, with the leaves falling and the deer fattened up, it's time to hunt.

Since the harvesters have harvested the fields, hunters can easily see the animals that have come out to harvest (and the foxes that have come out to hunt them).

The first use of the term "Hunter's Moon," cited in the Oxford English Dictionary, dates from 1710.

The full Moon this Saturday, Oct. 28, will be visible starting in the afternoon at 4:24 p.m. ET.

This will be Sunday morning from Gulf Standard Time in the Middle East eastward across Asia and Australia to the international date change line.

The bright planet Jupiter will appear in the lower left of the earth's satellite.

The Moon will appear full for approximately 3 days centered on this hour, from Friday morning through Monday morning, making it a full Moon weekend, NASA details.

2023 Full Moon Calendar

With two months left in the year, the same number of full moons remain to be appreciated.

The next one will be on Monday, November 27 and will come with the name Beaver Moon because, at that time of year, beavers are busy building their cold weather lodges.

It is also known as the Dew Moon or Mourning Moon for the Celts, according to the Cuerpo Mente website.

And the last full moon of 2023 will take place on Wednesday, December 27, known as the Cold Moon, as it heralds winter in the northern hemisphere.

As it is the closest full moon to the winter solstice, it is also known as the Long Night Moon or Oak Moon.
