Fred Again touches down in Wellington ahead of surprise gig
British DJ Fred Again declared his "love" for Wellington as he touched down in the capital ahead of his widely speculated surprise concert.
"I f***ing love Wellington, obviously – that’s why we’re coming back. We made sure of it," he told 1News.
Keen fans waited to catch a glimpse of the musician before his departure.
"We've been waiting for this all day. We’re supposed to be at university but we’re like 'it’s too big'," one woman told 1News.
"Heard a bunch of rumours. We’re just like ‘let’s just go down, get the tickets’ – let alone we were lucky enough to meet him."

Earlier today, sources confirmed to 1News he would be performing a show in the capital this week.
In an Instagram story posted this afternoon, Fred Again posted a picture flying into Wellington with the caption: "We can see our stage basically!"

The star foreshadowed his return to New Zealand this morning by posting a picture at Sydney Airport with the message: "Heading back to one of our favourite placessss."
Fred Again last played in Wellington at Shed 6 in 2023.
He has recently been in Australia surprising fans with last-minute performances.
Tickets for his Wellington gig are expected to go on sale soon.
It is understood the artist will be playing at Wellington’s Waitangi Park on Friday evening.
In the lead up to the announcement, several hints have been dropped from both Wellington organisations and the DJ himself.
It all began when he first shared a picture to Instagram of Gandalf from Lord of The Rings. He later shared a video of someone watching a clip of Jonah Lomu.
Yesterday, drug harm reduction service Know Your Stuff NZ posted to Instagram they will be offering a free drug checking service this Friday at the NZ Drug Foundation HQ in the capital.
This only further fuelled the speculation.
In the last 12 months he has hit a new level of stardom, becoming a headline act and performing many sold out shows across the globe.
He is known to put out tickets to performances at the last-minute, so Fred Again fans will need to keep their eyes peeled if they wish to get their hands on a ticket.
