BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team competed at the Billy Hayes Invitational on Friday (May 3) to close out the regular season.

Amit Rutman finished 11th in the 200-meter dash (22.14), while Lawrence Gilliam finished fourth in the 400-meter dash (48.46) and Nick Butler-Simpson finished ninth (49.61).

In the 800-meter run open section, Kepler Huntress placed fourth with a time of 1:52.12. Peter Baracco ran a personal best 3:52.10 in the 1,500-meter run open section to finish third.

Cole Sheldon cleared 4.85m (15-11) in the pole vault for a seventh-place finish.

The throwers had a solid day, with Zane Forist finishing fifth in the shot put with a mark of 17.79m (58-4.5) and Jake Steslicki finishing seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 58.74m (192-8). Both Wolverines threw for a personal best.

The Wolverines will open postseason competition at home, hosting the Big Ten Outdoor Championships May 10-12 at U-M Track and Field Stadium.
