Bald Head Island to shut off power to entire island to help firefighting ...
BALD HEAD ISLAND, N.C. (WECT) - A structure fire broke out at Bald Head Island Friday afternoon, May 3.
Officials say the call came in at 4:43 p.m.
Per the Village of Bald Head Island, public safety crews are responding to the fire, which is near N Bald Head Wynd and Stede Bonnet Wynd.
The village said at 6:15 p.m. that it is expecting Duke Energy to shut off power to the entire island to help with the fire response.
The fire has been contained and mutual aid is on the island to assist, and nobody has been reported injured so far.
The Southport Fire Department said on Facebook that its crews are working with Oak Island and Bald Head Island crews on the scene.
