LIVE: Australian sides book spots in Singapore quarter-finals

Australia will head to Singapore on a mission for success in the final round of the SVNS world series regular season.

Both teams have locked in their spots in the Grand Final in Madrid, with the Women hunting for the League title.

They head to Singapore for the first time in history, with Madison Ashby captaining a new-look side as they face France (3:24 pm) in the semi-finals after defeating Ireland in the quarter-finals

For the Men, they will be looking to improve their position before Madrid, facing South Africa in the quarter-finals(10:12 pm) after finishing third in the group.

Australia Women 27 v Brazil 10

Australia has started their Singapore campaign with a 27-10 win over Brazil.

The new-look side struggled early as Marina Fioravanti opened the scoring for Brazil.

Faith Nathan answered for the Aussies twice to tie the game at the break after Thaila Costa struck back for the Brazilians.

Nathan crossed for her hat-trick just after the start of the second half, however, the Australians weren’t out of danger when Sariah Paki was yellow-carded for a high shot, despite several brilliant shots from the powerful Paki.

In the end, Maddison Levi stepped up and scored the sealer, having spent the first half on the sidelines, with Ruby Nicholas icing the game after the siren.

Australia Men 26 v Argentina Men 19

Australia have upset Argentina 26-19 to open their tournament with a strong result.

The Australians started on fire as a lovely ball from Dietrich Roache hit James Turner in stride as he scored in the corner.

Santiago Mare answered straight away for the series leaders before they went down to six, allowing Ben Dowling to restore the seven point lead at half-time.

Nathan Lawson extended the lead a minute after the break, before Turner’s second put the game out of reach despite two late Argentina tries.

Australia Women 44 v Great Britain Women 0

Australia has powered to a 44-0 win over Great Britain to finish their day on a strong note.

A great kick through from Madison Ashby opens GB up, with the Aussies finding Kaitlin Shave in the corner for the opener.

Three further tries extended the Australians lead to 20-0 at the break, with Shave crossing for a second along with the two Maddi’s - Levi and Ashby.

Levi got her second after the break to go into third all-time for most World Series tries for Australia, followed by Faith Nathan.

Sidney Taylor scored her first try for Australia with three minutes to go, with Nathan’s second capping a dream day one for Tim Walsh’s side.

Australia Men 21 v Canada Men 14

Australia have secured their place in the quarter-finals with a 21-14 win over Canada.

Matt Oworu opened the account for Canada but Michael Hooper was there to open his Sevens account as he backed up a Dietrich Roache break.

Oworu’s second gave the Canadians the seven point lead at the break as the Australians lost Henry Paterson to injury.

Hooper then sparked Australia’s second try with some great work at the ruck to force the turnover, allowing Nick Malouf and the great boot of Roache to level it up.

The relentless pressure of the Aussies proved key, forcing the mistake and five metre scrum, allowing Hayden Sargeant to stroll over

Australia Women 60 v Fiji Women 0

Australia have thumped Fiji 60-0 to go into the quarters in style.

Faith Nathan continued her strong tournament with her sixth try in Singapore to open the scoring, followed over by partner-in-crime Maddison Levi.

It was Levi’s 50th on the world series this year and it only took 90 seconds for her 51st as sister Teagan added to the first half dominance, which finished with a penalty try.

Nathan’s second added to the 29-0 lead at the break, denied a third by a cynical foul by the Fijians, leading to another penalty try.

Australia Men 10 v New Zealand Men 26

Australia will face South Africa in the quarter-finals after a 26-10 defeat to NZ.

Fehi Fineanganofo opened the scoring for the Kiwis, needing victory to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Moses Leo extended the lead for New Zealand after a lovely ball from Tepaea Cook-Savage, adding his second shortly afterwards for a 19-0 lead at the break.

Nathan Lawson got Australia on the board 45 seconds into the second half, with Henry Palmer following him over to give them a chance.

However, Dylan Collier sealed the win with 20 seconds to go, with a head knock to Teddy Wilson compounding the loss of Jimmy Turner, who returned to Oz with his wife in labour, and Henry Paterson, who did not suit up for the clash.

Australia Women 24 v Ireland Women 12

Australia are into the semi-finals with a 24-12 win over Ireland

Maddison Levi continued to extend their lead on the top of the try scoring table with another five pointer in the opening minutes.

Not to be undone, Faith Nathan finished in the corner as the Aussies took a 12-0 lead into half-time.

Madison Ashby added to the lead after the break, with Teagan Levi putting the game out of reach midway through the second half.

Ireland scored two late tries but the result was never in question as the Aussies advance to the final four
