It's May the 4! The unofficial holiday for Star Wars fans (get it, the play on words: may the force be with you) and Mother Nature is playing along as a fair amount of sunshine is in the forecast to start the weekend.

Temperatures warm into the 60s this afternoon for inland locations. A cooler day is on tap for communities across eastern Massachusetts, with afternoon highs in the 50s. The forecast remains quiet and dry through this evening, so no impacts on any plans you might have.

Clouds thicken tonight ahead of a cold front lethargically marching through the East Coast. Isolated showers develop Sunday morning, but this will be the time to run any errands.

Activity becomes more scattered in the afternoon, prior to the heaviest precipitation arriving in the evening.

Showers persist much of Sunday night. Lingering showers east of I-95 are possible during the morning commute on Monday. All rain will depart the region by 9 AM.

Behind this system is the big change in the forecast all of us have been waiting for! The easterly flow that has plagued the area since last weekend is no longer, allowing temperatures to jump into the 70s on Monday and Tuesday!

Enjoy the warmer temperatures and sunshine because our pattern turns unsettled late this week.

Thanks for reading! Have a great weekend!
