'Gladiator II' Arrives On Digital Streaming This Week – How To Watch

Gladiator II was released in theaters domestically on Nov. 22. The film also stars Connie Nielsen, who played Lucilla in the Best Picture Oscar-winning original Gladiator, which was released in 2000.
The official logline for Gladiator II reads, “After his home is conquered by the tyrannical emperors who now lead Rome, Lucius (Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum and must look to his past to find strength to return the glory of Rome to its people.”

According to Deadline, Gladiator II will arrive on digital streaming via premium video on demand on Tuesday, Dec. 24.
The PVOD purchase price has not been revealed yet, but typically new films released on digital streaming cost anywhere from $19.99 to $29.99 to purchase and $14.99 to $24.99 to rent for a 48-period.
Gladiator II will be available on a variety of digital platforms including Prime Video, AppleTV and VUDU.

Paramount Pictures Ridley Scott Relied On Practical Sets Instead Of Blue Screen CGI For ‘Gladiator II’While Gladiator II is enormous in scale, director Ridley Scott told The Associated Press in an interview before the film’s release that it was ultimately cheaper to build the film’s key set piece—the Roman Colosseum—than to shoot the action against a blue screen and create the legendary structure with CGI.
“We built Rome. I discovered that you can have a lot of access, nice costumes and all blue screen,” Scott told The AP. “But in every shot you take — whether it’s (Scott holds his hands up for wide shots, over-shoulder shots and close-ups) you’re investing money on the blue. It’s more expensive to do that than to build it. So, I built the Colosseum 40% full scale. It was cheaper to do that than blue screen.”

According to The Numbers, Gladiator II has made $150.7 million domestically and $252.5 million in international ticket sales for a worldwide box office take of $403.2 million to date. Per Variety, Gladiator II had a production budget of $250 million-plus before prints and advertising .
To date, Rotten Tomatoes critics have given Gladiator II a 71% “fresh” rating based on 363 reviews. RT’s Critics Consensus reads, “Echoing its predecessor while upping the bloodsport and camp, Gladiator II is an action extravaganza that derives much of its strength and honor from Denzel Washington's scene-stealing performance.”
Gladiator II also earned an 82% “fresh” rating on RT’s popcorn meter based on RT’s verified user ratings.
Gladiator II debuts on PVOD on Tuesday, Dec. 24.
