The Football Ferns still have a chance to achieve what was considered unthinkable before the tournament - advancing to the World Cup's knockout stage on the back of a strong performance against the Swiss at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin tonight.

However, they will need to rediscover the form they showed in their historic first-up win over Norway rather than letting opportunities slip from their grasp as they did against the Philippines in Wellington on Tuesday.

The Football Ferns can seal their place in the round of 16 by beating Switzerland in their final Group A game. If they manage it, it would be the first time a New Zealand senior team - men's or women's - has made it to the knockout stage of a World Cup.

Ahead of the match, Switzerland (ranked 20th in the world) has four points, New Zealand and Philippines three and Norway one.
