TNT SPORTS EXPERTS REACT TO EMPHATIC LIVERPOOL WIN

ALLY MCCOIST: "If we are going to nit-pick, they probably could have and should have conceded more goals, but he'll be delighted. It was a comfortable win, the tie is effectively over, Salah got a bit of action ... and the one downside, was Konate's injury ... apart from that, a pretty much perfect night."

PETER CROUCH: "Hopefully Konate (withdrawal) is just precautionary. The start from Sparta was poor, they played into Liverpool's hands. Liverpool had more gears in the locker and it could have been more in the end."

FIVE-STAR LIVERPOOL THUMP SPARTA TO PUT ONE FOOT IN THE LAST EIGHT

Darwin Nunez grabbed a brace as Liverpool took a commanding grip of their UEFA Europa League last-16 tie courtesy of a 5-1 win at Sparta Prague.

Jurgen Klopp named a strong starting XI despite the looming shadow of Sunday’s crunch Premier League showdown with Manchester City and they took just six minutes to open the scoring through Alexis Mac Allister’s penalty.

Nunez then scored the 1000th goal of Klopp’s reign with a sumptuous curler on 25 minutes before an even better 20-yard volley from the Uruguayan made it three on the stroke of half time.

Sparta had plenty of chances of their own but were thwarted by the heroics of Caoimhín Kelleher until substitute Conor Bradley put through his own net within seconds of the restart.

Luis Diaz’s deflected finish restored the three-goal advantage on 53 minutes and Mo Salah returned from his hamstring problem as a substitute, but the withdrawal of Ibrahima Konate with a possible injury slightly dampened Liverpool’s otherwise excellent night.

Dominik Szoboszlai added a fifth in stoppage time as the Merseysiders put one foot in the last eight ahead of the second leg at Anfield next Thursday.

ONE FOOT IN THE LAST EIGHT?

Liverpool are MASSIVE favourites to reach the 1uarter-Finals of a European competition for the 28th time in their history now.

The second leg is at Anfield next Thursday where they will surely complete the job barring a minor miracle for the Czechs.

THE SPARTA CROWD HAVE BEEN FABULOUS TONIGHT

Despite the scoreline they have never stopped singing and urging their side forward.

Sadly for them, Kelleher and some poor finishing has meant they haven't been able to keep up with Liverpool.

If Slaah does net in the time remaining it will be his 20th of the campaign and see him become the first Liverpool player to net 20 or more in seven consecutive seasons.

The Egyptian thinks he's made his mark! Salah guides a fine finish into the corner to net his 20th of the season.

However, VAR checks and it's chalked off for offside.

Salah has scored 45 goals in 72 European appearances for Liverpool and has scored three goals in 182 minutes of Europa League action this season.

SPARTA NEED ANOTHER GOAL OR TWO TO HAVE BELIEF FOR THE SECOND LEG

It's hard to see the Czech side securing an emphatic win on an European night under the L4 lights.

Gakpo prods the ball through for Salah in the inside right channel, but the Egyptian is always being forced wide and can't dink a finish beyond the advancing Vindahl.

Szoboszali twists left and then right but fires a 15-yard shot straight at the keeper.
