In Christianity, Good Friday commemorates the day Jesus and his death at Calvary.

This year, Good Friday falls on March 29, with Easter on Sunday, March 31. Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, as it is said he rose from the dead just three days after being crucified.

Good Friday isn’t acknowledged by all businesses in Pa., but some do close in observance of the holiday. Here is a rundown of what is open and closed on Good Friday.

Cat Transit: Running normally

Banks: Most are open.

County Government: Adams, Lancaster, Cumberland, York and Lancaster county courts are closed. Perry and Dauphin county courts are open.

Federal Government: Open

Municipal Government: Call to verify, but most seem to be closed. Camp Hill, Pennsboro Township, Harrisburg and Middletown are closed.

PA Media Group: Open

Post Office: Will run on normal hours

Public Schools: Closed, as are most private schools as well.

State government: Open

Trash Collection: Normal schedule; some municipalities may be affected. Call to check for your area.

PennDot: Open

RabittTransit: Running normally.

Retail stores/supermarkets: Most are open normal hours.
