Windy conditions lead to massive field fire in Bremer County

BREMER COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - Officials in Bremer County are warning residents to be careful as the weather warms up and the urge to burn begins.

On Sunday, at least eight fire departments battled a large field fire. Investigators say the fire appears to have started from “wind-whipped power lines.”

Officials say that while the large fire was accidental due to weather, any fire (burning ditches, trash, etc.) may get out of control due to the dangerous combination of drought conditions and endless wind.
