A student has been injured after an assault at Wellington Girls' College this morning.

Police said it was notified of an assault at a Pipitea St address at 10.10am, with officers speaking to a second person.

"The two people involved are known to each other," a spokesperson said.

Wellington Free Ambulance said it took one person in a serious condition to Wellington Hospital.

"As this is an ongoing Police investigation, we are unable to comment further at this stage, other than to say the students involved are safe and their parents are with them.
