Robert Lewandowski's penalty again Brest in the UEFA Champions League not only gave Barcelona an early 1-0 lead, but also took the Polish striker to 100 goals in the competition. He’s just the third player to reach triple figures and is now in illustrious company. The forward joins Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, the only other players to hit a century of goals in Europe's elite competition.

Robert Lewandowski wrote his name in the history books as he became the third player to reach 100 UEFA Champions League goals with a penalty against Brest.

The Barcelona striker joins Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi on an elite list of players to score a century of goals in the competition.

Lewandowski reached the landmark with a penalty in the 10th minute of the match, slotting the ball past Marco Bizot to give his side the lead.

Ronaldo still leads the way in the all-time goalscorer rankings with 140, while Messi is 11 goals behind him on 129.

However, with both players now plying their trade outside of Europe, Lewandowski has the chance to overtake his two rivals.

Lewandowski scored the majority of his Champions League goals during his eight-year spell with Bayern, notching 69 goals in 78 appearances.

The Polish icon also won the competition during the 2019/20 campaign.

He netted 15 goals in 10 Champions League games as Bayern lifted the trophy as part of a historic treble that season.

The striker has not slowed down since joining Barcelona in 2022.

His penalty against Brest took his tally in the Champions League for this season to six goals and put him one ahead of England captain Harry Kane in the top scorer race.
