Nowata County deputies help arrest woman wanted in Texas for ...

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The Nowata County Sheriff's Office says they arrested a woman who was wanted in Texas for theft.

On March 9 just past 8 p.m., 40-year-old Jennifer Morris of Dallas was arrested by the South Coffeyville Police Department with the help of NCSO.

An officer stopped a vehicle for displaying incorrect license plates.

Police say Morris was the driver and gave the officer a false name and false driver's license.

While checking the information, Morris allegedly drove off to the right of the road, using a highway ditch.

The officer then pursued Morris south on Highway 169 while she was allegedly driving 120 miles per hour and passing vehicles.

This forced other drivers on the road to use the highway ditch to avoid being struck by Morris, authorities said.

Near County Road 16 on Highway 169 in Nowata County, a deputy punctured one of the tires on the vehicle using a stop stick.

Morris was detained once her vehicle stopped.

Deputies say the vehicle she was driving was stolen from Arlington, Texas.

Items in the vehicle were allegedly shoplifted from retail stores in Olathe, Kan.

Stolen identification cards were also recovered from the vehicle.

Police said that in an interview with Morris, she admitted to shoplifting stores and stealing wallets and purses to retrieve identities.

Morris was recently released from a Texas prison for credit card theft.

Morris is wanted in several Dallas area counties for identity theft and shoplifting.

Deputies also say she is wanted by Texas Pardon and Parole Division for parole violations.

Morris was arrested for anticipated charges of eluding while endangering others, false personation, possession of a stolen vehicle, knowingly concealing stolen property, and bringing stolen property into the Cherokee Nation.

NCSO says Morris is a Cherokee citizen and a judge has set her bond at $25,000.
