Speed limits will reduce to 'enhance road safety'

New speed limits in several locations in Jersey will come into force on Monday.
The reductions form part of the States of Jersey's Island Speed Limit Framework, external which it said is aimed at enhancing road safety.
Changes include roads in Bonne Nuit Bay and St Lawrence dropping from 40mph to 20mph and roads in St Brelade and La Rue de Sorel dropping from 40pmh to 30mph.
The states of Jersey said the changes reflected the island’s commitment to responsible traffic management.
"Managing the speed of traffic helps other road users feel safer and encourages
people to walk and cycle," the States said.
"This is especially important for those travelling to and from school."
The changes are:
St John’s Village: Speed limits will be adjusted in accordance with the St John’s Village improvement scheme of 20mph.
La Rue de Sorel: The speed limit towards Sorel Point will be reduced from 40mph to 30mph.
Bonne Nuit Bay: A reduction from 40mph to 20mph will be implemented.
St Brelade: La Pulente Hill will see a reduction from 40mph to 30mph, starting from the railway walk crossing on La Rue de la Sergente to a point just north of La Pulente slipway on La Route de la Pulente.
St Lawrence: La Rue des Saints Germains will have a reduced speed limit from 40mph to 20mph, extending into St John’s La Rue des Servais.
