June 26 (SeeNews) - A total of 1,341,009 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in the first four months of 2024, up 9.6% year-on-year, the state statistical office said, citing provisional data.
Overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 7.4% on the year to 3,172,407 in January-April, the statistical office said in a statement on Monday.
The number of domestic tourists edged up 0.3% to 564,732, taking the total number of tourists to 1,905,741, up 6.7% compared to January-April 2023.
Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 1,577,825 in the first four months of 2024, down 1.2% on the year. The total number of tourist overnights in the review period totalled 4,750,232, up 4.4%.
In April alone, 470,640 foreign tourists visited Slovenia, up 19.5% year-on-year. Overnight stays by foreign tourists grew by 17.5% to 1,060,992.
In April, most overnight stays were made by foreign tourists from Germany, accounting for 20.3% of the total, followed by Austria with 11.3%.
