Gang of 7 held for highway robberies in Nalgonda
Hyderabad: A gang of robbers, who committed multiple offences on the highways in
Nalgonda
, were recently arrested by cops. The gang of seven offenders would target people seeking lift and drivers of parked vehicles.

, on March 8 night, a DCM van driver, A
Srinivas
of Suryapet stopped his vehicle at Dandepally in Nalgonda and slept in the cabin. At 11.30pm, the accused came in a car and attacked Srinivas with an iron rod. They snatched his cell phone and 1,500 cash.
Later, police received a tip-off about accused’s movement. On Thursday, the accused, who arrived in a car, saw police check point and tried to escape. Police intercepted them. Cops seized an iron rod, a knife and 39 cell phones from seven accused, U Aravind, 19, an auto driver from Madannapet, K Ganesh, 25, a labourer from Mall in Yacharam, K Srihari, 20, a labourer from Medchal,

, 18, a labourer from Madannapet, A Venkataiah, 30, a petty vendor from Nalgonda and two juvenile offenders.
Accused confessed that on March 8 they hired a car in Hyderabad and went towards Nalgonda. At Abdullapurmet they offered a man a lift and robbed cash and cell phone, before dropping him at Dandu Mylaram. They also stole a cell phone from a truck at Chotuppal and robbed two DCM van drivers including Srinivas at Nalgonda. The accused were produced before court and sent in judicial remand. tnn
