Road closures

The waterproofing and resurfacing of Cleethorpe Road Bridge, situated between Lockhill Roundabout and Riby Square, is set to be largely finished this week.

However, a series of overnight full road closures are scheduled in the upcoming weeks to finalise the works.

From Tuesday 30 July to Thursday 1 August, there will be complete closures on the bridge from 8pm to 6am each night. This is to allow for resurfacing, including lane lining and stud installation, and the removal of traffic management measures, enabling free flow of traffic over the bridge.

On Monday, 5 August, Cleethorpe Road Bridge will be shut to all traffic overnight from 8pm to 6am for the installation of traffic light sensors.

Between 6 August and 16 August, temporary traffic lights will be installed under Cleethorpe Road Bridge, between Railway St and King Edward St, to ensure safety during works on the underside of the bridge.

In September, a final high friction surface will be applied to Cleethorpe Road Bridge, necessitating overnight closures from 16 September to 27 September.

Gilbey Road Bridge also requires two sets of overnight closures to finish above deck works. From 12 August to 23 August, there will be overnight closures to apply the high friction surface to the road at both ends of the bridge.

Then, from 9 September to 14 September, there will be overnight closures to complete the bridge expansion joint works.

Road users are being reminded about the ongoing works to both bridges as localised diversions will be implemented during all operations.

At the same time, teams will continue their work underneath both structures, which can be carried out safely without the need for traffic management on the decks of the bridges.

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: "We know that roadworks can be incredibly frustrating for drivers, and I'd like to thank people for their patience while these incredibly necessary works have been going on."
