The youngster also made quite a few records en route to his masterful knock. He became only the third Black Caps batter to score 500 or more runs in a single edition of the World Cup. Back in 2019, Kane Williamson scored 578 runs from 10 matches at an average of 82.57 and a strike-rate of 74.96 with a top score of 148.

In 2015, Martin Guptill, who is not a part of the current squad, scored 547 runs from nine matches at an average of 68.37 and a strike-rate of 104.58 with a top score of 237 not out.

Ravindra also made the record of most hundreds by a Kiwi batter in a single edition of the World Cup. Glenn Turner (1975), Martin Guptill (2015) and Kane Williamson (2019) scored two hundreds apiece.

The left-hander also made the record of most hundreds by a New Zealand batter in the 50-over World Cup. Nathan Astle, Stephen Fleming, Guptill, Scott Styris, Glenn Turner and Williamson have two hundreds apiece.

Against Pakistan, after being put in to bat first, New Zealand got off to a brilliant start thanks to Ravindra and Devon Conway. Although Conway got out, Ravindra went on to score his half-century off 51 balls.

Thereafter, he joined hands with Williamson and put on another useful partnership for the Black Caps. In the second ball of the 34th over, Ravindra hit Mohammad Wasim Jr for a four on the leg side to reach 99.

In the next ball, Ravindra survived a mini-scare after he played and missed outside the off-stump. However, the southpaw steered one down to fine leg to reach the three-figure score off 88 balls. It goes without saying that Ravindra has been the standout batter for New Zealand in World Cup 2023
