A major part of the goal to reduce those fatalities to zero is making sure that your child’s car seat is secure when you hit the road.

To assist with those efforts on the Eastern Shore the Princess Anne Police Department will be hosting a child car seat safety check on February 10th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

“Having a child or infant correctly in their seat can actually reduce the risk of injury by up to 71%.” Says event organizer and Officer Chad Savage of the Princess Anne Police Department.

Savage went on to comment about how often children’s car seats are improperly installed. Citing data from the Maryland Department of Highway Safety concerning if seats were installed properly: “We are actually kinda at the lower ball we’re at 50% of misuse which means you’re still flipping a coin at that point…”

If you are interested in having your child’s car seat inspected, you can register for the event with the Princess Anne Police Department by scanning the QR code on their flyer (above)  or by using this link.
