Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Forest were on a run of seven without a win (D1 L6) before Nuno Espirito Santo took over, with the Portuguese since overseeing just one loss in his six games at the helm (W3 D2), though that did come in their last Premier League outing when they were beaten 3-2 by Brentford. After seeing a flurry of goals in the first five games under Nuno, Forest played out a 0-0 draw away at Bristol City in their last match in the FA Cup, forcing them to another replay.
