Families enjoy festive ride on Cozad Rotary Polar Express
COZAD, Neb. (KNOP) - The season of giving is all about traditions and for one Dawson County community that continues to hold true.
Around 170 children, mainly dressed in their pajamas, hopped on the trolly to take a stroll to the North Pole in hopes of seeing Santa Clause and getting a bell.
The local Rotary club started the tradition eight years ago.
“When we started we just didn’t know how it would go and it’s worked out very well,” said Rotarian Lyle Davis. “We got people coming back time and time again and We’ve had people on it for eight years in a row and they just love it.”
Davis said tickets are $8 and they always sell out every year. The money goes back to Rotary to continue funding their community outreach programs.
“The little kids are getting to be bigger kids,” he said. “Now we got newer children coming on board with grandma and grandpa. It’s just an exciting time for us here in our community.”
Homestead Bank, Waypoint Bank, Security First Bank, Berreckman and Bazata Law Office and Cozad Community Hospital help sponsor the event.
