Evergreen Seattle grungers Pearl Jam are set to play an Auckland show in November as part of a world tour supporting their new Dark Matter album.
Dark Matter which Spin said was; "tailor-made for chanting and fist-pumping," is Pearl Jam's twelfth studio album, 33 years after their debut Ten , which went 13-times platinum in the US.
The band has racked up sales of more than 85 million albums world-wide.
Dark Matter is the band's first release since Gigaton in 2020. The 35-date world-wide tour kicks off in May, with the Auckland show scheduled for Go Media Stadium Mt Smart on 8 November.
Pearl Jam - Eddie Vedder, Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready and Matt Cameron - recorded the album in just three weeks in Malibu last year.
"We're at this time in our lives when you could do it or you could not do it, but we still care about putting something out there that is meaningful, and we hopefully think is our best work. No hyperbole, I think this is our best work," said veteran frontman Vedder.
It is 10 years since the band last played in New Zealand, The Pixies are support for the Australasian leg of the tour.
