Oracle's UEK-Next Moves To Linux 6.10, Patches In sched_ext

Oracle has shifted their Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel to a Linux 6.10 base with UEK-next.

UEK-Next is for tracking the latest close-to-upstream version of the Linux kernel that can be used in production atop Oracle Linux 9 as an alternative to their RHEL-compatible kernel while various Linux LTS kernels also remain available in UEK-ized form.

Among the patches being carried atop Linux 6.10 upstream with UEK-next is the sched_ext extensible scheduler code that is hopefully being upstreamed in Linux 6.12. Plus UEK-next carries other patches Oracle deems worthwhile and relevant to their Oracle Linux customers.

Those wanting to learn more about the Linux 6.10 UEK-next kernel can do so via the Oracle Linux blog. The UEK-next code remains publicly available on GitHub.
