KCCA Leopards 65-53 JT Lady JaguarsIn a thrilling but physical duel, KCCA Leopards secured a 65-53 victory over JT Jaguars in the National Basketball League at Lugogo Arena on Friday evening.
KCCA Leopards continued to show their class and determination to go all the way in the ongoing campaign. They registered their third victory of regular season after beating A1 Challenge, UCU Lady Canons and now Lady Jaguars.
Perus Nyamwenge lead the Leaopards’ scoring chart with 15 points before Asinah Kabendela and Margaret Bagaalabadded 13 and 11 respectively.
On the other hand, Sarah Ageno scored a double-double dropping 16 points and pulling down 18 rebounds but it was not enough for her side to pick a positive result.
Credit: VIPERS SCThe Leopards (3-0) got out of the blocks way early taking full charge of the game. At the end of the first quarter they had already opened a narrow six-point lead (17-11).
Leopards got even better in the second quarter. With point guard Ninette Uwineza bringing everyone into play they were only but the only team to beat.
It was an electric end of the second period with Uwineza’s three-point jump shot in the last second of the quarter opening up a 16-point lead before halftime.
With 3:00 to play, Rhoda Nagitta’s 3-pointer narrowed down the Leopard’s lead to 10. However, the Lady Jaguars made two avoidable turnovers sending Perus Nyamwenge to the line who missed to convert one before she later made an easy lay up.
Jaguars fought their way back to the game as Sarah Ageno harvested three quick points and the third period came to an end as they were only trailing by 10.
At full-time, it was a 12-point lead in favour of Leopard who looking way better from what they looked like last season.
