Bodybuilder Joey Swoll has revealed that fitness influencer Jeff Nippard has pressed charges against Mike Van Wyck after a viral video showed Van Wyck assaulting Nippard in a gym.

The incident occurred at Pure Muscle + Fitness in Burlington, Ontario, on October 21. A video circulating on social media shows Van Wyck pushing Nippard by the throat, almost causing him to fall into a weight rack. Nippard later claimed Van Wyck struck him again and pushed his cameraman into a cable machine.

Following the incident, Van Wyck was banned from the gym. Joey Swoll, a prominent figure in the bodybuilding community, confirmed via Twitter on October 22 that Van Wyck had turned himself in after Nippard pressed charges. "It is NEVER ok to put your hands on someone the way Mike did to Jeff, in the gym or ANYWHERE. This absolutism in the fitness industry needs to STOP," Swoll wrote.

Yesterday a video surfaced of a very popular fitness creator, Jeff Nippard, being assaulted in the gym. Everyone began making videos but the first thing I did was message him (and his friends) privately to see if he's ok and ask if he even wants anyone to make videos or comment… pic.twitter.com/jVC5TMYy9i

Nippard has since undergone a CT scan and stated on Instagram that while he is physically fine, the incident has left him emotionally shaken. "I really, really appreciate the outpouring of support from the community... It’s honestly making this situation a lot easier to deal with for me," Nippard said.

Van Wyck has not yet issued an official statement but has shared messages of support from fans on his Instagram stories.
