Veteran broadcaster Mike Enriquez dies

VETERAN news anchor Miguel "Mike" Enriquez died on Tuesday at the age of 71, according to GMA 7, his home network.

Enriquez's passing was revealed during the news program, "24 Oras," which the broadcast journalist has anchored alongside Mel Tiangco and Vicky Morales since 2004. He has not been seen since 2022.

Tiangco announced Enriquez's death, reading GMA Network's official statement.

"It is with profound sadness that GMA Network announces the passing of our beloved Kapuso, Mr. Miguel 'Mike' C. Enriquez, who peacefully joined our Creator on Aug. 29, 2023," according to the network.

Enriquez was with GMA Network for 54 years.

"The Board of Directors, management, and employees of GMA Network, Inc. deeply mourn the passing of Mr. Enriquez. His dedication to the industry will serve as an inspiration to all. We pray for the eternal repose of our beloved Kapuso," it said.

Enriquez had also anchored programs on radio station DZBB that included Saksi sa Dobol B. He served as the president of RGMA Network, Inc. and was DZBB's station manager, the network added.

He is survived by his wife, Lizabeth "Baby" Yumping-Enriquez.
