UFC 307 live blog: Jose Aldo vs. Mario Bautista

This is the UFC 307 live blog for Jose Aldo vs. Mario Bautista, the featured main card fight this Saturday in Salt Lake City.

Widely considered to be one of the greatest fighters of all time, Aldo is the longtime WEC and UFC featherweight champion and one of the pioneers of MMA in the lower weight classes. After losing his UFC title in 2017, many thought that may be the end of Aldo’s career but instead “The King of Rio” made the move down to bantamweight where he has continued to rack up notable wins as he nears his 40th birthday. After a brief retirement from MMA, Aldo returned to the UFC earlier this year to defeat rising contender Jonathan Martinez and now has another tough out against the surging Bautista.

Bautista, currently No. 11 in the UFC bantamweight rankings, enters the biggest fight of his career riding a five-fight winning streak, most recently picking up a unanimous decision win over Ricky Simon back in January. The MMA Lab product hopes to establish himself as a legitimate title threat at 135 pounds with a win over one of the greatest to ever do it.
