Tickets for Haka world record attempt tickets drop to $10 for Māori ...
Through partnership with Te Taura Whiri and to celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, tickets to take part in the Guinness World Record title attempt for the world’s largest haka are $10 this week.
The ticket promotion starts today. From now until Saturday, 12 September, tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for concessions – the special price applies to participants and spectators.
People who bought tickets before Monday, 16 September, can call Ticketek to receive two free spectator tickets for each full price ticket – a gift from Haka Stand as a Nation and Te Taura Whiri.
“This event is going to be incredible, and we are very excited to be taking on this Guinness World Records attempt in just under two weeks,” says Dame Hinewehi Mohi DNZM (Ngāti Kahungunu/Ngāi Tūhoe), cultural ambassador for Haka and co-founder of the Raukatauri Music Therapy Trust.
“We are thrilled that Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori has enabled us to offer these promotional prices on tickets so that more New Zealanders can take part.”
The event of a lifetimeOn 29 September, up to 10,000 New Zealanders will stand together at Eden Park to perform our best-known haka – Ka Mate, composed by Te Rauparaha, chief of Ngāti Toa Rangatira. It’s being billed as “the event of a lifetime”.
Starting at 6pm, the event will feature 14 top artists who represent the breadth of Aotearoa’s bilingual musical talent. The official record attempt set to take place later in the evening.
“Haka is a unique symbol of Aotearoa, it is undeniably ours and it is recognised and revered around the world, we need to bring this record back home. We’ve already sold more than 4,000 participant tickets but we want to smash this record, not just break it. We also want to fill the stands at Eden Park with spectators, so we are calling on everyone to get behind us and be a part of this record attempt,” says Dame Hinewehi.
“Haka is more than just an event. It is a powerful statement of national pride, cultural heritage, unity and a landmark occasion to create a new world record and reclaim the title from the current holders, the French.”

Get ready to hakaTo make sure everyone participating performs Ka Mate authentically and accurately, all participants will have access to training videos. These will help people learn how to perform it – including the differences for tāne (men) and wāhine (women). The training videos are provided as part of your ticket price.

Tickets include free public transport to the event.
