The "Young and Beautiful" singer, 39, filed for a marriage license in Thibodaux, Louisiana, on Sept. 23, according to records.
The air boat tour spot, about an hour from New Orleans, is meaningful to the singer, who is friends with Taylor Swift and is soon releasing her first country album. The first photos of she and Dufrene together that have surfaced online are from March 2019, when Del Rey took her friends on one of Dufrene's tours.
Del Rey isn't the first celebrity that Dufrene has met on the bayou. In 2016, "Hit Man" actor Glen Powell posted a photo on social media of him and Dufrene during a tour. Another photo surfaced of actress Emma Roberts with her arms wrapped around the airboat captain at what appeared to be the touring facility in Des Allemands.
Dufrene worked in a chemical plant before becoming an air boat captain. He is known for interacting with wildlife on his tours and has made friends with quite a few alligators.
Del Rey, born Elizabeth Grant, was walked down the aisle by her father. The reception was held in a small tent on the bayou, according to Daily Mail.
Earlier this month, Del Rey vaguely responded to a social media account calling Dufrene her "new beau" after photos surfaced of her and Dufrene holding hands at the 2024 Reading & Leeds Festival in England. She wrote in the comment section "No," leading many eagle-eyed fans and tabloids to believe that the romantic relationship was nonexistent.
Months before the wedding, Del Rey was making frequent visits to Louisiana. In May, the singer shared a video of her driving down the Twin Span Bridge in the New Orleans metro area, then dancing on a boat in swamp waters.
Del Rey was back in New Orleans in June. During the trip, she paid a visit to Tic-Toc Café, a hole in the wall diner in the outskirts of the city. She posed in front of shotgun homes in New Orleans neighborhoods, and snapped a grainy, nighttime photograph of moss hanging from an oak tree.
