Bobby Green and Jim Miller meet Saturday on the early preliminary card of UFC 300 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.
Bobby Green vs. Jim Miller UFC 300 previewGreen (31-15-1 MMA, 12-10-1 UFC) and Miller (37-17 MMA, 26-16 UFC) set things off early with an all-action lightweight bout for the hardcore fans. … Green will look to rebound from a knockout loss to Jailin Turner in December. Prior to that defeat, “King” Green scored finishes over Tony Ferguson with an arm triangle and a 33-second knockout of Grant Dawson. … Miller will make history as the only fighter to compete on UFC 100, 200 and 300. He enters a long-awaited showdown vs. Green on a two-fight winning streak, having quickly knocked out Jesse Butler and then tapping Gabriel Benitez in the third round of their January bout for consecutive wins.
Bobby Green vs. Jim Miller expert pick, predictionDespite part of me hating that two of my favorite fighters have to face one another, I’m happy to see that UFC is keeping up with traditions by booking Miller on this card considering his history with the company’s centennial events (being the only fighter to compete at UFC 100, 200 and 300).
As stated in a recent article, Miller is one of the veterans whom the UFC built off the backs of during their golden eras, so it’s fitting to see the 40-year-old paired with a fellow vet in Green.
Another fighter who doesn’t necessarily get his due, Green will be a tricky stylistic puzzle for Miller to figure out in space. That said, Green is currently going through a bit of a turbulent spot in his career as he attempts a surprisingly quick turnaround from a devastating knockout loss sustained last December.
Add in the fact that Miller’s style is more suited for a competitor in the advanced stages of their career, and I’ll take a flier on the underdog to knock Green out in round 2.
Bobby Green vs. Jim Miller oddsThe odds are close in this one as Green is a slight -178 favorite and Miller a +150 underdog, according to FanDuel.
