Jerry Seinfeld is teasing that something is in the works with his beloved eponymous sitcom.

Seinfeld, which ran for nine seasons from 1989 to 1998, is still considered by many to be one of the best shows of all time, and now, 25 years after airing its controversial finale, there seems to be more to come.

During a standup set in Boston last Saturday, the comedian, 69, was asked by someone in the audience if he "liked the ending," according to a clip posted by a fan on Instagram.

"The ending. Of the show? Well, I have a little secret for you about the ending. But I can't really tell it, 'cause it is a secret," he stated.

"Here's what I'll tell you, okay? But you can't tell anybody," he continued, teasing further. "Something is going to happen with that ending — it hasn't happened yet."

In response, the audience broke out in applause and cheers.

"And just what you have been thinking about, Larry and I have been thinking about, so you'll see," he said in the fan-shared clip, referring to show co-creator Larry David, who also served as head writer and executive producer of Seinfeld.

"The Finale" was comprised of two episodes that originally aired in May 1998. In the episode, Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer face a legal trial in a small town after unknowingly violating a local Good Samaritan law. The series ended with the foursome being found guilty, and sentenced to time in prison.

Back in Sept. 2021, Seinfeld shut down rumors of a possible Seinfeld reunion during a Netflix press junket, saying "there's absolutely nothing going on."

Though he stated that he's "very much a nostalgia person," he said, overall, he likes to "go forward in life."

"I don't know what we would do that would be good," Seinfeld added at the time, saying that the cast "wouldn't be as good" in a reunion setting and said he was content with the show they produced during its original nine-season run.

"I think we did a good job," he affirmed.

Addressing the show's ending that same year, he recalled the moment when he knew it was time to "wrap this up."

"I do remember when I was in the ninth season and I was thinking, maybe it's time to wrap this up," he told PEOPLE and other reporters at NYC's Citi Field. "I remember inviting Michael [Richards] and Julia [Louis-Dreyfus] and Jason [Alexander] to my dressing room, and we all just sat there and we stared at each other," he said. "And I went, 'You know, I was thinking maybe this is our moment to make a good exit. We've had a lot of good fortune here. Maybe we shouldn't push our luck too far.' And we all agreed that this was the right moment."
