Ireland have held on against a spirited Argentina side, winning 22-19 in Dublin.

During large periods in the second half Los Pumas dominated on both sides of the ball but Ireland’s composure held firm as they weathered a late 14-man Argentinian charge to bounce back from their loss against the All Blacks.

Tomás Albornoz kept the blue and white hoops in the contest with his accurate boot, but it was his drop goal that was pushed wide in the the 56th minute that saw Argentina ultimately fall short of a famous victory over Irealand.

Discipline was an issue for both sides as the penalty count reached 19 across the match and featured four yellow cards.

Pleasing for Ireland will be their defence that held the Argentine’s scoreless for the final half hour - albeit not scoring themselves.
