Hunter Woodhall, a former University of Arkansas All-American sprinter, earned gold and bronze medals at the Paralympics on Friday at Stade de France in Paris.

Woodhall won the gold medal in the T62 400 meters final, running 46.36 seconds.

It was the first Paralympic gold medal for Woodhall, 25, who previously won bronze medals in the 400 in 2016 and 2021 and silver in the 200 in 2016.

After Woodhall’s victory Friday, he tore off his bib, showing the message, “Wyatt Woodhall: This one is for you.”

Wyatt Woodhall, Hunter Woodhall’s uncle, died from cancer in 2021.

Woodhall and his wife, Tara Davis-Woodhall, now each have gold medals. She won the long jump at the Olympics Aug. 8 with her husband watching from the stands at the Stade de France.

Later Friday night, Hunter Woodhall ran the second leg on the U.S. 400 relay that finished third in 47.32 behind China (45.07) and Great Britain (46.01).
