Ganesh Chaturthi 2024: Rules before placing the idol
1. Choose right idol: Devotees are advised to first choose the right idol for their home and you must known that Ganesha's trunk should be on the left side as it will bring auspiciousness in the life of devotees.
2. Mooshak: You must keep this in mind that if the idol of Ganesha which you are bringing at home does not have Mooshak then you should bring one Mooshak and place nearby the idol.

3. Shubh Muhurat: People are advised to choose the auspicious Muhurat for placing the Ganpati at home.
4. Hide the face: Before bringing the idol of Ganesha at home, you must hide his face from red cloth and once you place the idol then remove the red cloth.
Step-by-Step Guide to Perform Ganesh Puja at Home
1. Bathing: Devotess should first take a holy bath before starting puja rituals.
2. Cleaning: You must clean the home and puja room before placing an idol of Ganesha.

3. Wooden Plank: Take a wooden plank and place a yellow cloth and decorater the plank with different types of flowers before placing the idol.
4. Place the idol: Sprinkle Gangajal and thenplace the idol of Lord Ganesha.
5. Clothes: People who are bringing Ganesha idol at home then first adorn the idol with yellow clothes and yellow Patka.
6. Tilak: You should put tilak with yellow chandan on the forehead of Lord Ganpati.
7. Lighting a diya: Devotees should light a diya with desi cow ghee and keep it in front of the Ganesha idol.
8. Kalash: One must place a kalash filled with water and keep it front of the idol.
9. Coconut: Place a coconut or nariyal(filled with water) on the top of kalash and offer it to the Lord.
10. Flower Garland: People should offer yellow flower garland to Lord Ganesha.
11. Durva: Devotees are advised to offer 3, 5, 7, 9,11, and 21 Durva blades to Lord Ganesha as per the choice of the devotee.
12. Paan: Offering Meetha Paan along with supari, elaichi and laung is considered auspicious.
13. Sweets: Modak and boondi laddoo are the favourite sweets of Ganesh Ji so people must offer this to please Ganesha.
14: Mantra Chanting: Invoking the idol is one of the most important thing so people should chant Ganesh Mantras to seek blessings.
15. Stotram: Reciting Stotram is also one of the most powerful way to appease Lord Ganesha so one must do it.
16. Aarti: After performing all the puja rituals, one must perform aarti and conclude the puja.
