Fortnite has been known for its unique collection of emotes since it was first released. The game contains hundreds of emotes, ranging from iconic celebrations to trending dances featuring songs from popular artists.

While most emotes are generally harmless, a few stand out due to their overuse by sweats and tryhards in Fortnite. Epic Games has deemed these emotes confrontational.

However, since Epic Games' shift to a more family-friendly Fortnite environment in recent years, many in-game items have undergone changes. So, here's a guide on how you can block certain emotes.

How to disable Emotes in Fortnite

Emotes are a massive part of Fortnite's gimmick. Since its launch, the feature of using emotes has been one of the most controversial topics as many emotes encouraged toxicity.

After Disney's investment in Epic Games, Fortnite has started leaning towards family-friendly content and in-game features. To incline their new family friendly environment, Epic Games has labelled the most controversial emotes as confrontational.

Epic Games Take the L has been regarded as the most toxic emote in Fortnite.

These new confrontational emotes can be disable through in-game settings, allowing players to avoid any form of toxicity through emotes. Here are the current emotes labelled as confrontational:

Laugh It Up Take the L Whipcrack Make It Plantain

The Laugh It Up and Take the L emotes have been infamous for bullying allegations. Many content creators and casual players have talked about these emotes being the go to medium for toxicity.

The setting to disable all confrontational emotes can be found under “Social Privacy” and will default to only showing these Emotes from friends in the player's party. Players can change this setting at any time, so they can see these emotes from any player or not at all.
