A city is holding its fireworks display in combination with a food and drink festival for the first time.
Up to 35,000 people are expected to watch the Cumberland Council Fireshow in Bitts Park, Carlisle, later.
The cathedral grounds will also host a two-day event with 40 traders from Taste Cumbria and Carlisle Farmers Market.
Anne Quilter from Cumberland Council said combining the events would create "an explosive weekend of fun for all the family".
The Fireshow, which gets under way at 18:30 GMT, includes a centrepiece bonfire and more than 2,000 fireworks.
The event is free, but donations will go towards the Rotary in Carlisle, Pancreatic Cancer UK and the Eden Valley Hospice.
Stalls for the Food and Drink Festival will be open from 10:00 on Saturday and Sunday and there will also be food and entertainment in Castle Car Park for those attending the Fireshow.
