Quincy Festival of Lights wraps up on Tuesday
QUINCY (WGEM) - The Quincy Festival of Lights has become a staple of the holiday season over the past six years. The event opened on Thanksgiving, but is nearing the end for this year.
The festival’s final day will be on Dec. 31. Each year, organizers said it has gotten bigger and better bringing in more guests, volunteers and revenue
“I think it’s the growing support that we have from year to year in our sixth year we have kind of grown a support base that allows us to be able to continue year to year, and we hope and certainly try to do a bigger and better display, a bigger production every single year than the year before, and the feedback has been spectacular,” said Festival of Lights President Eric Dooley.
Organizers said they are grateful for the success they have now, and they want to continue to grow in the future.
“We’re really looking forward to what we can do and kind of make a big step forward. We’ve been doing a drive-through display now in our sixth year, and I think there is so much more that we can do, so many more ways that we can serve the community. I think we need a more event-placed display the feedback that we get is that people want something that doesn’t require them to stay in their vehicle,” Dooley said.
Dooley said that the final day of the festival is a bittersweet day every year, but they are beyond excited to begin planning for next year.
