Wow, Yuki Tsunoda is getting very upset on the team radio as RB considers swapping its drivers. Tsunoda is told to close up to Ricciardo and then they will swap, but snaps back that his tires will die in the dirty air.
In the end, Ricciardo moves aside, allowing Tsunoda through to P12.
Nobody likes passing around the outside more than Oscar Piastri. Terrific pass on Hamilton for fourth.

That long strategy has hurt Piastri in the short term, at least. He was right behind Russell before pitting, but he is now not only five seconds behind Russell but also trailing Lewis Hamilton in the sister Mercedes.
Piastri does have far fresher tires, so he could go on a charge and try to overtake. He's got 20 seconds to Verstappen in P2.
The decision to keep Piastri out so long is a bold one by McLaren. He's reported that his tires are dropping off, and he's losing nearly a second a lap to Verstappen. Right now, he'd come back out well behind Russell, meaning he'd need to go on a charge to get the position.
If a safety car comes out then there might be a chance of him keeping in the top three, and having fresh tires to attack Verstappen. Curious to see what they're planning.

George Russell's radio message to his race engineer is a good reminder that sometimes, it's okay to ask for a verbal hug.
At last, a replay of Norris running a bit wide on Lap 29 and tapping the wall, showing where he lost time and picked up a small bit of front wing damage at Turn 14.

McLaren pits Norris but does not change his front wing, only making a slight adjustment to the setup (as permitted). He's back out of the pits, still clear of Piastri.
This is a chance for Norris to get his first grand slam today if he can win the race from pole while leading every lap and also setting the fastest lap.
Verstappen pitted and just came out behind Carlos Sainz. Norris is pitting.
Norris lost four seconds to Piastri that lap.
Norris reports on the radio that he has front wing damage. He's just lost around four seconds on the last lap, and is losing time around his current lap.
Is this race about to turn on its head?
Uh oh.

The pit lane time loss here is around 28 seconds. Norris is 24 seconds clear of Verstappen currently, and still lapping over a second per lap quicker. Total domination at the front.
Piastri is told on the radio that "this is the race now" after Russell pits. Big chance to push on and try to get ahead for P3.

Lewis Hamilton isn't pleased with how early he was called into the pits, telling Bono, his race engineer, that "you're killing me with this offset, mate." He was the only driver in the top 10 to start on softs, so surely he knew he was always going to be coming in early.
He reports he's struggling with the tires after trying and failing to pass Yuki Tsunoda.
Norris is a second-per-lap faster than Verstappen right now. Just charging away.
Every driver sounds frustrated and irritable, and who can blame them? It's 96 degrees Fahrenheit (36 Celsius), and the humidity is 75 percent.

McLaren wants Norris to go as long as possible, telling him to manage his tires to avoid pitting before Verstappen.
Because when you're 16 seconds clear, you really need to worry about the undercut. ????
Alex Albon's day ended early as he retired the car due to a suspected PU/cooling issue, Williams said. The team will look into the matter more post-race.
