Richarlison's match-winning penalty in Thursday night's victory over AZ Alkmaar saw us break the Europa League goalscoring record.

Our 321st goal in the competition, which includes goals in the tournament's previous guise of, the UEFA Cup, we have now scored the most goals by any club in the history of the Europa League.

Edging in front of Sporting CP, who have scored 320 goals in the competition to date, we levelled their then-record with Brennan Johnson's winner in Matchday 2's triumph over Ferencvaros earlier on this month and have now taken top spot thanks to Richy's successful spot kick against AZ at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It was actually a record we had held until February earlier this year with 315 goals to our name, only for Sporting to grab their 315th, 316th and 317th goals in the competition in a 3-1 win over Young Boys in the competition's knockout round play-offs. They then went on to add goals 318, 319 and 320 before bowing out of the competition in the round of 16.

First playing in the competition back in the 1971/72 season - the first-ever edition of the tournament, then called the UEFA Cup - we scored the first of our 321 goals to date in 6-1 first round win over Keflavik in Iceland in September, 1971, Alan Gilzean the goalscorer.

Rafael van der Vaart was the man to get our first goal in the rebranded Europa League as we claimed a 5-0 advantage away at Hearts in the opening leg of our play-off round victory over the Scottish side in August, 2011. Roman Pavlyuchenko scored our first goal in the tournament proper with a header in a 3-1 group stage win over Irish outfit Shamrock Rovers a month later at White Hart Lane.
