Jordin Sparks releases second Christmas EP with Epidemic Sound
Last year we reported on former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks releasing a Christmas album (well, EP as it turned out) with production-music firm Epidemic Sound. Now they’ve teamed up for a second in 2024. ‘Joy’ sees Sparks take on four more Christmas tracks, and has been released for all the main streaming services plus Apple’s iTunes Store.
What’s interesting about this project is how Epidemic Sound measures its success. It’s not really by streamcounts on the traditional DSPs. Last year’s ‘The Gift of Christmas’ has fewer than 185,000 streams on Spotify for example. But as Epidemic pointed out in its press release for ‘Joy’, last year’s EP “garnered over 511m views across TikTok and YouTube and inspired over 214,000 unique video creations across platforms”.
A release measured by its social/soundtrack reach rather than its traditional streams, in other words.
