Tom Kohler-Cadmore has replaced Joe Root for the remainder of England's ODI series against Ireland.

Root will rest up ahead of the World Cup, which begins on October 5 with England taking on New Zealand in the opening game - live on Sky Sports.

He had planned to play in Wednesday's series opener at Headingley as final preparation for next month's tournament in India but saw the game washed out.

The second ODI of the three-match series will take place at Trent Bridge on Saturday - live on Sky Sports.

Somerset's Kohler-Cadmore is a powerful wicketkeeper-batter and has become a regular on the franchise circuit in recent years.

The uncapped 29-year-old will join the England team following the conclusion of Somerset's County Championship Division One match against Kent at Taunton, which is scheduled to finish on Friday.
