A minor earthquake was detected near Morton, Washington, on Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake occurred at approximately 7:52 a.m., north of Mount St. Helens and west of Spirit Lake. It was recorded at a depth of around 2.2 miles.

The earthquake registered a magnitude of 2.3, as reported by Earthquake Alerts. You can report if you felt the quake on the U.S. Geological Survey website.

Small earthquakes near Mount St. Helens are not unusual and are not a cause for concern, seismologists say. No damage or injuries have been reported at this time.
