WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - A late night earthquake may have jarred you awake Friday.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports a M 3.4 earthquake was recorded around 11:30pm Friday with the epicenter located just a few miles southwest of Henderson in the waters of Lake Ontario.

According to the USGS webpage, people from as far away as east of Toronto reported feeling it. Closer to home, the USGS reports, people in LaFargeville, Brockville, Ontario, and Syracuse felt the earth shake last night.

It was last April when a M 3.6 earthquake was recorded roughly in the same area with the epicenter on land in the town of Adams. That earthquake spurred about a dozen aftershocks in the days following.

No recorded aftershocks so far after Friday’s earthquake. (Updated at 6:15pm Saturday.)
