There is no denying that Henry Cavill’s name will forever be linked to Superman. But right now, fans of the DC Universe have another actor they have been obsessing over lately – David Corenswet. When James Gunn first announced the exit of Henry Cavill, fans were absolutely enraged and skeptical about how the filmmaker would handle Superman’s character.

However, after it was revealed that David Corenswet is DC’s new Superman, a lot of fans began calming down. Why? Well, for starters, the man looks like the long-lost twin of Henry Cavill! And now, as we get to take a look at leaked photos from the set of Superman (2025), we are even more convinced that David Corenswet might never beat the look-alike allegations.

The principal photography for Superman began in February of this year after a little delay caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike. It took place in Svalbard, Norway, a place James Gunn had handpicked for its natural beauty and landscapes. Here, filming took place for a week.

The team then traveled to a handful of different locations to shoot and has now reached downtown Cleveland where filming resumed on June 24.

Recent set leaks from the film’s set in Cleveland show David Corenswet working hard to fill in the large shoes left behind by Henry Cavill. However, after looking at some of the leaks, fans couldn’t help but notice, yet again, how similar the actor is to Cavill. Many also believed that Corenswet was the spitting image of Superman a.k.a. Clark Kent, too.

Take a look at what fans had to say about Corenswet being Cavill’s look-alike:

That’s just Henry cavill.

It looks like the upcoming Superman will always remind us of Cavill, in one way or the other.

Gunn always wanted to have a younger Superman in the DC films and he somehow managed to find the perfect person for the job. It doesn’t matter what your opinions are on the filmmaker, you have to agree that Gunn was right on the mark with Corenswet’s casting.

Years before it was revealed that Cavill was out and Corenswet was in, the latter appeared for an interview with Entertainment Weekly where he addressed the resemblance between them.

Not only did the Pearl actor reveal that he was well aware of the similarities even before the Internet pointed it out, but he went ahead to add that playing Superman was his biggest professional goal.

It came to my attention before the internet got a hold of me. But my pie-in-the-sky ambition is definitely to play Superman. I would love to see somebody do an upbeat, throwback [take on Superman]. I love the Henry Cavill dark and gritty take, but I would love to see the next one be very bright and optimistic.

A few years later, Gunn went ahead and told Variety that the new Superman would be “someone who has all the humanity that Superman has but he’s also an alien.” He added that it must be someone who “has the kindness and the compassion that Superman has and be somebody who you want to give a hug.” It looks like all of Corenswet’s dreams regarding Superman came true, courtesy of Gunn!

Superman will be released in theatres on July 11, 2025.
